Suhaib Butt
1. What important lessons did you learn?
I learnt that teamwork is the key to Motorsport. If there is strong team work things can get done a lot faster. Time is everything in motorsport. Perfection is another important fact I learnt while on the trip. A lot of people around can notice the attention to details which makes your Team stand out amongst the others.
2. Did you enjoy the experience and what specifically?
I loved everything about the trip. It was my first time in Thailand. Thankfully I came with the right people which made a trip to remember. The best part for me, or with any race weekend for that fact, is once the final race is over and all the drivers are happy and smiling with the performance. It makes all the hard work worth it.
3. How do you think the experience may benefit you in the future?
The experience will definitely benefit me. It has taught me a lot about dedication and team work. This will definitely prepare me for future opportunities.
4. Do you have future career aspirations in motorsport?
Like any other Petrol Head, I would one day love to work for the Formula 1.
5. Any other thoughts or comments?
I would recommend anyone, especially in Motorsport to take any opportunity that comes at them. Experience is everything when it comes to this trade.

1. What important lessons did you learn?
I learned that motorsport is not just a sport where cars come to race. It requires a great amount of teamwork, dedication and enthusiasm. There are also businesses going on in the sports such as brand sponsorships and promoting the cars to both the visitors and competitors in the other racing series. I also met new people from countries even beyond South East Asia. The atmosphere you get in a crowded racing weekend is hectic, but it's very rewarding. At the end of the day, it puts a smile on my face knowing that I accomplished my job and made the cars and people happy.
2. Did you enjoy the experience and what specifically?
I really enjoyed that couple of minutes in the grid before the race. The spirit of competition was high up in the air, and the drivers and crew were ready to race. It's a very tense couple of minutes, and we were racing against time. But it's the thrill that makes races a lot of fun. I also enjoyed motivating the drivers when they were at the grid, it made me happy to see them encouraged and pumped up for the race.
3. How do you think the experience may benefit you in the future?
I think this experience may benefit me in a way that it taught me a few things about the sport in its entirety and not just about fixing the cars and making them run. It gave me a great opportunity to experience the thrills and excitement of a race weekend, the happiness when you win a race, and how to stay motivated even if you lost. It also taught me how it felt to be a key person in the sport, where I was the only one in charge of the car and the driver. I got in touch with them, I assisted them and made sure the race weekend was just as fantastic as they expected. I also gained an insight on the technologies of a race car and what makes it different from road car, and it gave me an experience about the methods used in fixing a race car, and how to run the race weekend, such as what to do and when to do it.
4. Do you have future career aspirations in motorsport?
Yes I do. After finishing the TOC diploma, I am planning to get a bachelors and masters degree in motorsport engineering in the UK, and hopefully join a racing team one day. It's something that I've always wanted to do since I was 5 years old.
5. Any other thoughts or comments?
Thank you for giving me this fantastic opportunity to join the race weekend. It was a lot of fun, especially in another country where everything is new to me. I hope I can join more race weekends with Caterham in the future.
