Automotive Studies: Your Path to a High-Tech Career
We live in a day and age when overnight technological advances are no longer something that’s new to us, but something that is a part of everyday life. Not only do we wake up every day to hear about new technological advances, with concepts like the Internet of Things (IoT) coming into play, we wake up to discover that technology has permeated our everyday lives, even more, all the way to our kitchens, even!
The world’s state of constant technological growth has created a long list of new career options that probably didn’t exist even just ten years ago. Parents and students everywhere are preparing early for the way the world is shifting by making life decisions that will eventually lead to them to working in high-tech careers in the future. However, there is a common assumption that the only way to be a part of that high-tech wave is to pursue a path through scientific fields of study.
The question we should be asking is: can you pursue a path to a high-tech career without taking a course like computer science, or picking up skills such as coding? Yes, you can! One way to do that is by getting an education in the field of automotive studies.
With the world’s shift towards becoming even more technologically-driven, entire industries that affect our day-to-day lives are being made more efficient with the use of the latest technologies. One industry that will never go away is the automotive industry, which enables human beings to travel easily over long distances so that they can make a living and increase the quality of their lives.
The automotive industry is going through a lot of technological changes. Automation is the perfect example, as the technologies that enable cars to be self-driven are evolving at an unbelievable rate, with self-driving cars and even large container trucks already operating in certain countries like the United States! Furthermore, there’s a shift away from using petroleum and diesel-based engines and towards those powered by renewable energies like electricity, hydrogen, biofuels, and on a smaller scale even cars powered by the sun with solar technologies.
While there are entire industries specialising in developing these new technologies, none of them can be applied to automobiles without relying on the expertise of automotive experts. No matter what kind of new technology is being developed, there will always be a need for those who are able to engineer those technologies into cars, trucks, and motorcycles to operate optimally on the road while keeping its occupants safe and comfortable. For example, an expert in artificial intelligence (AI) might be good at what they do, but they will still need an automotive expert to make their solutions applicable to automobiles.
Best of all, the automotive industry has a few unique strengths that make it attractive to an increasing number of people these days. Firstly, for as long as there are automotive vehicles on the road, there will always be a need for people who are able to repair, upgrade, and modify those vehicles. At the same time, there will always be the need for people at the frontlines of automotive businesses who are able to liaise between customers and those who are performing the actual works on those vehicles; there will always be a need for those with automotive customer service skills and abilities. Above all, since a lot of these roles involve hands-on work with the actual vehicles and face-to-face interactions with their owners, these jobs are not the type that can be outsourced overseas to countries with cheaper labour, and they are also difficult to automate and taken over by robots.
What all of this means
What all of this means is that with the way the world is evolving, one industry that has a very low chance of being left behind is the automotive industry. As time goes on, the automotive industry will constantly evolve into higher-tech versions of itself, and those working as a part of this industry will also have their skills and abilities evolve alongside with it. Our human need to always be mobile to perform our daily tasks means that society will always need automobiles, and with that comes the need for people with the expertise required to keep those automobiles operationally.
Considering all of these factors, if you’re looking for a clear path towards a high-tech career in the future and you have an appreciation for automobiles, the perfect way to pursue your passion would be through an education in the field of automotive studies!
