With the monsoon season fast arriving, Malaysia is going to see a lot of wet weather in the coming few months. Remember to check the rubber lining on doors before heading out into the rain. Repair or replace them in case the linings are torn off or damaged. You can also grease the door hinges to make them completely watertight. The exposed metal parts may develop rust due to the continuous exposure to water. Spray these areas with an anti-corrosion product to prevent weathering.

3. Vacuum Frequently

You should regularly vacuum your car to help remove odors and allergy-causing particles that accumulate in porous materials. Also, make sure that you clean up any stains when they spill. They can turn into permanent stains if not treated right away.

4. Protect the interiors from water and moisture

Despite taking all the preventive measures, it’s not rare to discover wet carpet and flooring when you are driving in the rain. Odors, especially from pets or food, may linger even though the interior looks clean. Sprays help neutralize obnoxious smells. You can also use upholstery cleaner and protectant. Dirt and liquids readily embed themselves into the structure of fabrics. Clean upholstery occasionally with quality automotive upholstery cleaner, not harsh industrial solvents or cleaning agents.

5. Proper maintenance will keep the interior dry and fresh

Keep a bottle of essential oil or fresh herbs such as mint, rosemary, chamomile, etc. to remove the bad odor. If the seats get wet, avoid the development of mildew by keeping the windows open when parked in the garage. Always use fabric guard on rugs and seats. Fabric guards help repel water and prevent stains.
