As technology grows, cars aren’t the only thing that has been subjected to improvements and innovations. Motorcycles too are slowly being revamped to fit with modern tastes and needs, as well as fitted with plenty of technological advancements.

 

So today, we will look at some of the best motorcycles in the market, and how even two-wheelers can be as cool as their four-wheeled counterparts.


1. Husqvarna Vitpilen 701

Husqvarna is a Swedish company that specializes in chainsaws, which is probably why the Vitpilen 701 is so cutting edge. With a design ethos that strips away unnecessary gimmicks, the company creates a progressive mix of classic thinking and modern manufacturing, evidenced by the lightweight, narrow bodywork and a laser-cut, robot-welded and hydro-formed chrome-moly steel-trellis frame. The lightweight and narrow bodywork is shaped into the bike’s progressive design and intelligently allows for seamless movement while riding. The company designed the Vitpilen 701 to give riders new perspective on urban motorcycling, and to bring back a thrilling, honest and real bike experience, and wow wouldn’t we like to give it a go.

If you’re looking for something that will definitely turn a few heads, the 2018 Yamaha Niken is the bike for you. With its revolutionary three wheels and the “leaning multi-wheel technology”, which doubles the amount of available grip for exceptional stopping power, cornering confidence, rider comfort and impeccable road manners, this bike ensures that all twisting roads will feel like nothing. The HP4 RACE is more than the sum of its parts. Limited to just 750 vehicles, BMW's 146kg two-wheeler is the first bike in the world to offer a fully carbon frame and wheels for optimum torsion and smooth glide. The bike is engineered as a single component, from steering head to swing pivot arm, for the most flexible finish. he bike’s dome-shaped windscreen keeps the rider secure and offers a streamlined ride, and a 2D dashboard for displaying relevant data. All 750 bikes are handmade by BMW specialists and fitted with a numbered plaque, for even more exclusivity.

 

4. Vespa Elettrica

The Vespa is an icon. So much so, that only now, 70 years after its first introduction, the Vespa has finally gone electric. The Vespa Elettrica is the environmentally friendly younger brother of the classic Vespa, and has been designed with city-living in mind. With only a four-hour charge time and a maximum range of 100km, this is THE Vespa of our generation. It’s not just a homage though. The Vespa Elettrica is also packed with tons of features, like its torque of more than 200Nm, a multimedia system that connects to your smartphone, a modern lithium-ion battery and energy efficient Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that recharges when decelerating. It’s definitely something that you would want to try out.

5. Zero Motorcycles DSR

Zero Motorcycles is not a new name, in fact the company has been involved in making electric bikes for over 10 years now. Their experience with electric bikes and handling EV powertrains show in their newest model, the DSR, which has been touted as their most versatile bike yet. The bike is able to ride in all kinds of terrain, “from pothole-ridden boulevards to rock-strewn backwoods” according to their website. In terms of speed, the DSR goes from 0-100 in a mere 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 157kph. Best of all, you can ride your bike for up to 236km before needing a recharge, which will only take about 2.6 hours for a maximum charge. It’s the best experience for those looking for a sporty but resourceful motorbike.
